BUILT 2025 contains two Chuck Miller artworks!

I’ve participated in Historic Albany Foundation’s BUILT charitable auction for the past fifteen years. The sales of several of my photos and artworks have helped preserve distressed buildings and architecture in the Albany area, and for that I am happy.

This year, two of my artworks – one photograph, one collage – will join the collection of other talented and gifted photographers, painters, sculptors and creatives in HAF’s 2025 BUILT charitable auction. The show will take place on Saturday, November 8th and Sunday, November 9th at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 275 State Street, in Albany.

So what, pray tell, are my two artworks for BUILT this year?

Well, there’s this one – 90 Minutes of Moonlight. My long-exposure shot of a full moon as it rises over the Warehouse District, right over the RCA “His Master’s Voice” Nipper statue. Sweet.

90 Minutes of Moonlight. Pentacon Six TL camera, Kodak TMax 400 film, Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm f/2.8 lens, 90-minute exposure with ND10 filter, two images combined. Photo (c) 2025 Chuck Miller, all rights reserved.

This is offered as a 16×20 framed photo print, ready for hanging and display.

The second piece is a collage artwork, based on the 1863 storefront tokens that once advertised a downtown bootery and shoe store.

I blogged about the project in 2023 …

And here’s what it looks like in 2025.

There you go. Vintage advertisements and two “storefront” tokens, combined on an 11×14 acrylic background.

Online bidding will start Saturday, November 1 and can be accessed at Historic Albany Foundation’s website. I’m dropping the artworks off to the church on Thursday, so if you have some free time on Saturday / Sunday November 8 / 9, please come down to check out all the great and fantastic work from BUILT artists (and me), and bid on some of these wonderful treasures. You’ll receive incredible artwork, and you’ll help preserve Albany’s classic architecture.

Sounds like a win-win to me. Doesn’t it sound like a win-win to you?
