There’s snow outside. Lots of it. And after going through the usual routines of watching movies, watching football, and starting a new art project or three …
I decided it was time to clean out all the photos and videos on my cell phone. Mostly because I’m reaching that limit where Google keeps bugging me to sign up for a subscription for more storage.
So I went through the photos. And I realized that I took a lot of images that I could have used for various Competition Seasons – but eventually either forgot about them, or didn’t think they were as significant as other entries.
For example, this one. I captured this shot on Central Avenue in Albany in 2018. Someone had this art installation and parked it all over the neighborhood, and I just happened to capture the image one day.

I would have entered this in competition, for sure. But I decided against doing so, since it was a photo of someone else’s art creation. It would be similar to taking a photo of the Mona Lisa and entering it in an art show.
Then there was this little creation from 2018.

And I thought about entering it in competition … but decided against it. It seemed too busy, too rough. It’s a statement for a question that nobody asked.
Now this one, I was at the laundromat, and … well … you see a reflection, you catch a reflection.

And I would have entered this in competition … except that if you look at the bottom of the photo, you see the words “Speed Queen” very clearly. Some competitions and shows have concerns with trademarked names and logos appearing in submitted entries.
Then there was this image from 2018. This one is a classic.

And I definitely would have entered THIS in competition … but, in all honesty, it’s not my best selfie.
THIS is my best selfie.

Oh, yeah, doesn’t that just ooze charm? #hahahahaha
I SWEAR I’ve seen you smile at LEAST once. When WAS that…
