Sometimes, if you look around the neighborhood, you can find beauty in previously undiscovered places.
And as I’m testing out this R1C1 lighting macro system on my Nikon Df camera, I worked that hypothesis by walking around the Town and Village of Green Island.
Apparently Green Island has plenty of flowering trees at this time of year; I surmise these must be Bradford Pear trees. Five-petaled blooms in late April, which should bear berries and nibblers for local squirrels and birds in the fall.
And the fruit they currently bear … are way cool photos.

These shots were taken with my Nikon Df camera, along with a Nikkor macro 55mm 1:3.5 manual focus lens. Flash was fired at 3:00 and 9:00 of the image, then the photos were post-processed.

Then I turned off the R1C1 flash and shot a macro shot through the foliage canopy.

That last one may not be totally Competition Season-worthy … but boy would that make a great wallpaper for a laptop or a cell phone screen, don’tcha think? 😀
A delicate beauty, and to think it’s looked down upon as a pest.
Another invasive subject that you might also find photogenic is bittersweet, found in the wild: yellow-green spring flowers –> orange capsules –> slowly peel open to expose striking red-orange berries in late fall.
Back in the day, wifey and I used to incorporate sprigs of it into dried plant arrangements for a splash of color.
