I have a relationship with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Whenever I am able, I drop off bags of bottles and cans to the shelter. They, in turn, receive nine cents per empty in redemption, which will help defray the cost of dog food or cat food or whatever the shelter needs.
It might seen like a small gesture, but trust me, the Humane Society pulls in thousands of dollars from people’s empties. And every bit helps.
So last Friday, I dropped off several bags of cans and bottles. And on my way out of the Humane Society’s access road …
What do I see … but a flock of wild turkeys.
No, seriously. Four or five wild turkeys crossed the road. And yes, I presume they crossed the road to get to the other side, just like chickens do.
And before any of you say to me, “Pics, Chuck, or it didn’t happen,” I got cha covered.

Holy cow, look at that butterball.

Be vewy, vewy quiet …

I’m telling you, these might not be roasting turkeys for Thanksgiving, but I’m sure they would represent a bottle of spirits very nicely.
So let’s recap. In the past couple of bottle / can drops, I’ve seen turkeys, I’ve seen deer.
I’m wondering what the next wild animal or animals might be on my next deposit deposit.
Anybody know if there’s moose or elk or wild boar in the marshlands along the Hudson River? 😀
