Max Caster stepped in it big time

Max Caster is a professional wrestler, and he has a gimmick.

And that gimmick has caused him trouble in the past.

Last weekend … it cost him a job.

Let me explain.

After several years as an independent wrestler, Caster found success as one-half of the tag team “The Acclaimed,” winning tag championships and three-man “trios” championships in All Elite Wrestling. He was athletic, he had charisma, and he had a very unique wrestling gimmick.

He would create “diss” raps and spit insults at his opponent during his introductory walk to the ring. Not just dissing the opponent – he would throw shade at the town where the match took place, and also hit some strays with current events.

Here’s an example of Caster’s rap intros from All Elite Wrestling. Some of them are funny, others … well … I guess you had to be there.

But sometimes Max’s raps were – shall we say – a bit too close to the sun.

Back in 2021, Caster was suspended for a few weeks because one of his freestyle raps mocked Simone Biles (who at the time had announced various health struggles), the Duke lacrosse team (the sexual assault case), and made a snide comment about the Varsity Blondes’ valet Julia Hart (ewww). Jokes about rape are never funny. Jokes about mental health even less so.

After that incident, Caster had to get his raps “approved” prior to his ring entrance. In some cases, AEW let his raps slide by; other times they were edited for broadcast or trimmed out entirely.

Caster stayed with AEW for six years, including a breakup with his tag partner Anthony Bowens and a run with a gimmick called “The Best Wrestler Alive,” where he challenged people in the back if they could last five minutes with him in the ring – and invariably, Caster got the snot beat out of him nearly every single time.

Caster’s AEW contract expired last month, at which time he became a free agent and could wrestle anywhere he pleased. And he signed with a rival wrestling company, TNA, and was announced as the next opponent for one of TNA’s top stars, a big dude named Moose, as part of TNA’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view event.

Caster even put together a pre-match rap announcing his arrival in TNA and dissing Moose.

Here we go. Max Caster makes his debut in TNA at the pay-per-view against the big behemoth Moose. This could lead to big things for the young star. A long-term contract with TNA. Maybe a trip to the WWE. Singles gold. All in the future.

And of course, Caster has to come up with a rap entrance.

And boy oh boy, did he launch one.

Wait … did Caster make a joke about the recent bombing at the Saudi Arabia airport?

Does he know that TNA has a working relationship with the largest wrestling company in the world, WWE?

Does he know that WWE hosts regular events – including an upcoming Wrestlemania – in Saudi Arabia?

If he didn’t know … he found out quickly.

Less than 24 hours after the Bound for Glory match against Moose (which he lost), TNA removed all references to Max Caster on their social media platforms. By this morning, Caster’s tenure with TNA ended after (checks notes) one match. TNA fired Caster and cancelled their contract with him.

Damn, bro.

Now theoretically he could go back to AEW – oh, wait, AEW removed all of Caster’s content from THEIR social media accounts. And any thought of joining WWE went into the crapper after that little pre-match sonnet at Bound For Glory.

Now, in Max Caster’s defense, there is this thing in America called free speech.

However, as the adage goes, free speech does not mean shouting “FIRE” in a crowded theater.

And Caster’s raps are like a gallon of kerosene, just waiting for a stray lit matchstick.

Yikes, man.
