Ah, it’s time for this poll to come around again.
The Times Union “Best of 2011” poll.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of this poll. Even if they did offer a few prizes to some random voters this year.
So as I did when this poll appeared in 2010, I say again in 2011. No matter who you vote for in the category of best blogger, do me a favor.
Don’t vote for me. I do not deserve the honor. I didn’t deserve it in 2010, and I’m not worthy of it in 2011.
All I am is a local guy with an unusually large appetite for trivia and minutiae and Albany history and photography and the like. And I share it, once a day (sometimes twice) on this blog.
Instead, let me recommend some people you should consider voting for in the category of best local blogger.
- Vote for Farmlife, Teri Conroy’s blog that allows us to experience the wonders and joys of rural farm life.
- Vote for Amanda Talar, who still comes up with funny and whimsical and insightful blog posts every day.
- Vote for Kevin Marshall, as he’s turned his blog into one of the more well-read blogs on the TU site.
- Vote for All Over Albany or Nippertown or Indie Albany, three “must read” regional blogs.
- Vote for Libby Post or Alice Green or David Kaczynski and take a stand.
- Vote for Jeannine Trimboli and get fit.
- Vote for Marianne DiNapoli and get cured.
- Vote for Jason Purvis and get parenthood from a father’s point of view.
- Vote for Keyboard Krumbs – just because I said so, that’s why.
- Vote for Keep Albany Boring, the website that just exploded onto the scene faster than a Saturday morning drunken riot.
Vote for any of those bloggers, or vote for one of a hundred other bloggers that I didn’t have time to mention in this post.
If you still want to vote for me, please understand. This is not a campaign for personal votes, this is not a beg-a-thon. Only vote with your heart and with your mind. What I listed above are several blogs and blog portals that I would vote for BEFORE I voted for myself. Those aren’t the only ones. Those are the first ones.
But rather than suggesting or pandering for personal votes, I’d rather graciously step aside and let you make your own decision on who is the best blogger in the Capital Region. I gave you several choices of whom I would vote for; you may pick from them or vote for anybody else.
And maybe next year, when I have at least 500 more blog posts archived on this site, and a few hundred more photographs, and maybe if I’ve even garnered a ribbon at the Altamont Fair…
I’ll most likely recommend several more bloggers you can choose for Best of 2012, rather than voting for me.
At least I have to remain consistent, don’t I?
Nobody puts more heart into than you, Chuck, so I may just have to force my vote on you!

Chuck, I love your blog and am a regular reader! I do read many of the blogs on your list but…I have to vote for KC Orcutt of Keep Albany Boring ’cause she’s my daughter and the more votes she gets, the better chance she has of getting a paying job when she graduates this May!!!

@parenting – if she wins “best blogger” she’ll get “best pay for a blogger”. you do realize that these bloggers get paid some serious dollars for their work, don’t you? :0)

How about a campaign for votes in another category? For “Best thing in the Capital Region that’s not included in the ballot”, vote for Trivia Nights Live.
