Add my voice to those of support. It does get better. I promise.

I initially didn’t want to make this video.  I wasn’t sure how it would be received.  But after seeing the increased cyber-bullying and taunting and belittling going on today, both nationally and locally, I could remain silent no more.

And the kicker was reading this morning about Mitchell Wilson, a boy with muscular dystrophy who was beaten and bullied by one of his classmates.  Fearful of returning to the same school that both he and his tormentor attended, Wilson smothered himself with a plastic bag.  He was only eleven years old.

So this morning, I got up and made this video.  It was based on how I felt.  It was based on what I wanted to say to anyone – old, young, black, white, gay, straight, religious, non-religious, disabled, enabled – who is feeling that they can’t take it any more.  Who feel that there is no hope.  Who feel that  there is no future.

Listen to me.  You can survive this.  You can make things better for yourself.  You will get past this.  There are people who will help.  There are people who will be your support.  You do not have to go through this by yourself.

It does get better.  I mean it.

And if you don’t believe me… watch this video.
