Summer Bowl IV is next week!

It’s the midsummer classic; the Summer Bowl, the trivia championship that’s held as the Saratoga flat track opens for business.

This year, the invite-only tournament will take place at On Tap, the restaurant inside Latham’s Holiday Inn Express, this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Β Teams will be challenged on twenty different trivia questions of history, pop culture and general knowledge. Β Don’t look for questions like “Who’s buried in Grant’s Tomb?” (Nobody, silly, it’s a masoleum, Grant isn’t buried there, he’s entombed).

Right off the bat, we know of three teams that have earned the Golden Ticket. Β By winning a “wacky trivia team name” competition, the team known as American Fistory XXX received their invite. Β And the two previous trivia champions, Tap This! and the Street Academy, get the VIP invite treatment.

So who else received their invites?

The list is below. Β Please note that some teams’ names were changed in this blog if there were any concerns that the team name Β might run afoul of the Times Union’s profanity policies.

  • Pootie Nation (also known as Trivia Bowl 9 champions “Manti’s Phone Bill”)
  • Stop The Bus … (Not the Trivia Bowl 7 winners… this is a different team with a similar name)

There will be some more names announced later, but for now… this is the main list that will compete this Sunday.
