Best of our TU Community Blogs, August 27, 2015: Ten for Thursday

You might think that all I do on Thursday morning is find ten blog posts by ten community bloggers, post them on this page, and then go on my merry way.

Well, yeah, I do that, but that’s not all that I do.

Example.

Last Monday, I had the great pleasure of participating in a meet-up with several different Times Union community bloggers, including Roger Green, Ken Screven, Liz Lemery Joy, Don Rittner and Sam Trumbore.  It was fun; we shared stories and talked about what it means to blog for the TU, among many other topics.

TU Bloggers (l-r): Don Rittner, Chuck Miller, Liz Lemery Joy, Roger Green, Sam Trumbore, Ken Screven.

It was a fun little get-together, and I hope we can do more of them in the future – and include more TU community bloggers as well at these functions.

Ever since I joined up with the TU blogfarm six years ago this week (wow, six years ago this week… damn, I’m old), I’ve always espoused this “bloggers support bloggers” theory.  It’s one of the reasons why I do these Thursday blog weekly wrapups – to support my fellow community bloggers.  And on occasion, it’s nice to set up a “hang-out” with my fellow writers and raconteurs.  It’s almost like a 21st-century Algonquin Round Table with me playing the role of Alexander Woollcott.

And I hope that we can set up future get-togethers, and include more TU community bloggers in these escapades.  This would be fun.  Trust me on this.

But now back to our regularly scheduled Thursday feature.

This week’s recap of rave raconteurisms from our blog crew include:

  1. Ken Screven’s blog, “Being a target on a TV live shot.” (Read this first.)
  2. Fran Rossi Szpylczyn’s “There Will Be Bread” blog, “Who can accept it?
  3. Brian Huba’s ‘The Cat’s Pajamas” blog, “Hero #4: the Yoga Teacher.
  4. David Kalish’s “The Ruminator” blog, “For a dad and daughter, tennis is the new baseball.
  5. Professor Warren Roberts’ blog, “They murdered an 83-year-old archeologist.
  6. Turtle Beanz’ guest post in the Transgender blog, “PSA.
  7. Rob Hoffman in the “Hoffman Files” blog, “Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner split … Yeah, I saw that one coming.
  8. Sara Rose Wheeler’s “Roaring Twenties” blog, “My significant other is a waste of life …
  9. Assemblyman Jim Tedisco’s blog, “The state of homelessness in the #518.
  10. Roger Green’s “Information Without the Bun” blog, “F is for Forgiveness.

This should start your day in the best possible way.

And as for blog get-togethers, I’m hoping to organize some new ones in the fall and winter.  They should be a lot of fun, and it should also stimulate plenty of camaraderie and conversation.

Have a great day, everybody!
