K-Chuck Radio: The New Christmas Time

During the holiday season, I usually swap out a couple of my preset SiriusXM radio channels to their dedicated Christmas music channels.  One button this year is set for SiriusXM’s Holly station (13), while another is tuned to SiriusXM’s “Holiday Traditions” station (18).

And this year, I noticed something different on the Holly station.  There were new holiday songs, new interesting and ear-catching and toe-tapping tracks about Christmas time and tradition.  Now maybe these tracks have been out for a couple of years now, or maybe this is their first seasonal unboxing.  Many of these new tracks borrow liberally from the orchestration of other classic Christmas songs – you can hear plenty of “Phil Spector Christmas Album” Wall of Sound orchestrations in some of these tracks.

But if means this track takes rotations away from hearing “Wonderful Christmastime” by Paul McCartney and Wings, I’m fine with that.

So sit back and enjoy these new holiday tracks.

THE BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA
Yabba-Dabba Yultide

Holy Hoyt Curtin, Batman, the Brian Setzer Orchestra found a way to spin the Flintstones theme song into a Christmas track!

LEONA LEWIS
One More Sleep

I vaguely remember Leona Lewis the singer of the hit “Bleeding Love,” but honestly this track is even better than her secular hit.

ERIN BOWMAN
Keep Me Warm

You’ve probably heard this song to death as part of a McDonald’s commercial, but it still makes for a great Christmas song in and of itself.

PENTATONIX
That’s Christmas To Me

There’s something about this a cappella quintet that keeps growing on me.  In a good way.

COLBIE CAILLAT
Mistletoe

You remember Colbie Caillat, don’t you – had a few hits a few years ago?  Maybe?  Possibly?

STEPHANIE STACK
Under the Mistletoe

I wish I could find out more about Stephanie Stack, because this song is pretty bouncy and ear-catching.  Her personal homepage, however – it just has a picture of her and how to join her fan club.  Dear Santa, please bring this woman at least a musical curriculum vitae.

THE TREETOP SISTERS
Nicki and the Crew

This is a pretty bouncy song, which has kind of a retro rockabilly feel to it.

ADAM SANDLER
The Chanukah Song, Part 4

There’s a fourth entry in the “Chanukah Song” series?  Woah.  Oh wait, there’s a Jared Fogle joke in this track, making this Sandler’s second-worst embarrassment of 2015… after Pixels, of course…

The best of the holiday season to you, from all of us here at your favorite Internet blog radio channel, K-Chuck Radio!
