I want to share this news with all of my fellow painters, photographers, sculptors and artisans of the Capital Region. Here’s an opportunity to show off your best nature-inspired creations. And I hope you’re able to participate in this.
The 17th annual Nature Art Show at the Thacher Nature Center is accepting entries. The Nature Art Show is an annual exhibit for local artists to showcase their work. Original works of nature based subjects, excluding people, are selected that demonstrate the following:
- Aesthetic qualities, including composition
- A broad representation of artistry with consideration of: unique viewpoint, technique, or medium
You may submit up to four entries for consideration, and a maximum of three will be selected for the show. Digital copies of entries must be submitted by February 1; accepted pieces must be delivered to the Thacher Park Nature Center between February 28 and March 5, 2017. There will be a gallery show on Saturday, March 11, to run until April 1. There is a $15/person entry fee.
I can say, without hesitation, that this is a fantastic event. It’s a great way for new artists to get their works shown and admired; it’s also an opportunity to meet with and network with the Capital Region’s growing nature and art community. I’ve participated in the show for the past three years, and it’s a lot of fun.
