We all have our personal fandom when it comes to the most popular science-fiction entertainment. There are those who believe that the Star Trek universe rules, there are those who believe that the Star Wars universe is triumphant. I personally don’t have a dog in the fight, I love both universes equally.
Which came to a head last night in Fresno, California.
Let me explain.
As part of a promotion for their minor league baseball team, the Fresno Grizzlies held “Star Wars Night.” And sure enough, during the game, Darth Vader and a crew of stormtroopers made their way onto the field, where they were greeted by a landing party from the Enterprise.
This could get ugly. Ugly like Jar Jar Binks wearing a red tunic ugly.
So what happened when Gene Roddenberry’s imagination faced George Lucas’ imagination?
This.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
This is too freakin’ funny!
A freakin’ dance off to the music of Afrika Bambaataa’s “Planet Rock”!
And this epic battle of space history did exactly what it was supposed to do –
It promoted the Fresno Grizzlies minor league baseball team.
Truly, the force is strong with the Grizzlies.
Live long and prosper, guys.
