Hello Chuckthewriter.blog!

Well, this is a new experience…

Last year, when I exited the Times Union’s blogfarm, I created my own personal blog stand through WordPress.com.  It was hastily crafted and I’m lucky I even got as far as I did with my limited coding skills.  This is what happens when Big Hearst says to you, “Don’t worry about formatting and coding, let our techs take care of it.”

So this morning … I decided to “take care of it” myself.

Follow me on this.

For the past year, I’ve muddled through with a clumsy URL address of chuckthewriterblog.wordpress.com.   Yeah, that’s as much a mouthful to say as it is to type.

This morning, as I was contemplating what I would blog about today – the Pittsburgh Steelers letting Jacksonville run all over them; the Albany Patroons home game this afternoon against Rochester, with the return of Jamario Moon and Edwin Ubiles to the gold and kelly green lineup (now where did I put my throwback J-Luna jersey … oh here it is!), or the production or editing of various photography projects in the pipeline …

I decided it was time to upgrade.

I need a website URL that’s more elegant.  And I need to be able to edit and construct and manipulate my writing to the best of my possible abilities.

So this morning … I logged into WordPress and signed up for a brand new pricing and hosting plan.

And with it came a brand new URL.  Don’t worry, your original links will redirect to my brand new chuckthewriter.blog portal.  That’s fine and dandy.

And you may have noticed … I’ve added a bit of a formatting upgrade to my page.  Bear with me, I’m still working on all the tweaks and twists of this new format.  Honestly, some things might still look a bit funky, but give me time to dial everything in.

That being said …

What I’ve done to this page should improve your reading and viewing of the site.  And if it gets rid of any annoying WordPress adverts, that’s a plus as well.

I guess what I’m trying to say is … now that I feel comfortable with my own personal blog portal, with my own content, with my own voice … it’s time to make my blog’s appearance more “comfortable” as well.

So welcome to the new Chuck The Writer Blog, also known as chuckthewriter.blog.  Have a seat, set a while, take yer shoes off, y’all come back now, y’hear?
