There was no greater time traveling comedy than Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, a low-budget film that dominated the 1988 box office and became a major success story. The movie follows the adventures of two slackers, Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) and Ted “Theodore” Logan (Keanu Reeves) as they rode their phone booth / time machine under the watchful eye of Rufus (George Carlin, who SHOULD have gotten an Oscar for this role). They travel back in time, they grab some historic figures, and bring them to contemporary times.
And hilarity ensues.
Don’t believe me? Check out the original trailer.
I’m telling you, this movie was a monster hit. And it not only spawned a 1991 sequel… Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, in which they meet up with Death and play board games with him…
The franchise also included a Hanna-Barbera 13-episode Saturday morning cartoon, in which George Carlin, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter all voiced their roles from the movie.
Heck, there was even a live-action sitcom that ran for about six episodes on Fox, starring Evan Richards, Christopher Kennedy and Rick Overton in the roles of Bill, Ted and Rufus.
And after you went through all that … and even had a bowl or two of Ralston Purina’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Cereal…
Then you wait. You wait until Keanu Reeves makes several films – The Matrix, Speed, John Wick 1 and 2…
And yesterday, like a puff of smoke coming from a San Dimas church…
We have news.
This kind of news.
Bill and Ted 3: Face the Music, filming in 2019 and scheduled for release in 2020.

Trust me, I have no problem waiting for a sequel or a new chapter in a film franchise. Heck, I waited decades for a new TRON movie. And what, 33 years for the Mad Max: Fury Road. So why not bring back Bill and Ted and send them on that magical phone booth to new adventures?
Don’t be heinous, man. Be excellent and PARTY ON, DUDES!!!
