As you are aware, I am a big fan of the Jericho Drive-In and what they’ve done over the years. Not just satisfied with being a decent outdoor movie getaway in the Capital District, the Jericho has opened up an ice cream shop (Twist), they’ve opened their drive-ins for fundraisers and charity events, and now – they’ve done something waycool for the hearing impaired.
No, I don’t mean that they’ve fixed that one car speaker in the corner that buzzes all the time.
The Jericho Drive-In questioned their patrons and asked about certain options and amenities that would make their time at the Drive-In more enjoyable. And something came up.
Would there be a way to expand the movie-going experience for those who are deaf or hard of hearing?
Check out the Jericho Drive-In’s Facebook page for the answer.
That’s right. On Monday nights at the drive-in, the Jericho will turn on the captioning for their films if someone requests this.
Trust me. As someone who leaves his captioning ON when watching TV (and who has borrowed the captioning device at the movie theater when I know that there will be lots of bang-whiz noises and the like), I’m totally stoked by this news.
As far as I’m concerned, this is another effort by the Jericho to really do something nice and supportive for their customers.
And I’m definitely down with that.
Oh, by the way the movie on Monday is The Lion King. Just sayin’ is all, if you want to sing along with the movie and see the words up on the screen as you sing. 😀
