Look, it hasn’t been easy to find a political candidate for the 2020 Presidential election. It hasn’t. Ever since my original choice, Kirsten Gillibrand, dropped out of the running, I’ve been looking at my options – do I go with Sanders, or Warren, or Buttigieg or Biden or that one billionaire or that other billionaire –
And then I heard about something. Someone made a comment and it finally allowed me to make a hard decision easier.
I’m voting for Pete Buttigieg for President.
And it’s because of Rush Limbaugh.
Yep. Race-baiting, xenophobic, bigoted, blowhard Rush Limbaugh, who provides three hours of toxic poison over radio airwaves. Trust me, he’s one of the reasons why WGY has fallen into the cesspool over the past 20 years. Well, him and Mike Gallagher and Mark Williams and Andrew Wilkow and Sean Hannity and Tom Leykis and Art Bell and a few others over the years …
But I digress.
Yesterday, on his radio show, Limbaugh commented on the Presidential race — and instead of discussing the issues and the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates, as a normal political pundit might, he went straight into gay-bashing and homo-taunting with Buttigieg.
First, by calling him “Booty-Judge.” Yeah, that wasn’t funny in fourth grade and it isn’t funny now.
Then he kept repeating, over and over and over, about how people would be offended by seeing Buttigieg kiss his husband.
And while I’m holding my nose about doing this …
Here’s a Twitter link.
All throughout the broadcast, Limbaugh referred to Buttigieg as “the gay guy who kisses his husband on the debate stage,” as compared to “Mr. Man, Donald Trump.”
And it got worse. The homophobic vitriol from Limbaugh’s mouth was just so horrendous and vulgar, it made me want to puke.
Then again, Limbaugh’s broadcasts are three hours of puke, so there’s that.
Then again, with Biden’s poll numbers dropping, perhaps Trump is fearful that Buttigieg might actually BEAT him in the general election – I mean, a decorated soldier versus a draft dodger, a faithful husband versus a serial adulterer, a graduate of Harvard and Oxford (on a Rhodes Scholarship) versus someone who put Kansas City in the wrong state.
But here’s what really pisses me off. Rush Limbaugh is using the old, worn out trope of portraying anyone in the LGBTQ community as some sort of deviant to society, someone who should be feared and shunned and ridiculed and shamed.
Don’t worry, Rush. Pete Buttigieg has no desire to sleep with you. Besides, Pete’s only on his first marriage, you’re like what, on your fourth right now?
It’s comments like Limbaugh made yesterday – the close-minded hatred of anyone who is gay or bi or trans – that makes me furious.
It’s the same shit that happened 100 years ago when Al Smith ran for President, people said that no one should support him because he’s a Catholic and he would have to answer to the Pope, therefore voting for Al Smith is like voting for the Papacy to run our country. Ugh.
Oh, and Rushie … calling Donald Trump “Mr. Man” is kinda funny. Do you know that Mr. Man is a website that rates and ranks photos of male nudity? Yeah, Wikipedia says so, here’s the link.
And now I must tell you two stories.
The first happened a few days ago, when I was checking the schedule of events for my upcoming reunion at Hamilton College. I received an e-mail from one of the organizers, who alerted me that one of the parties I signed up for – Spectrum – had moved from Friday night to Saturday night.
I wasn’t sure what Spectrum was – as far as I was concerned, Spectrum was the rebranded Time Warner Cable – so I contacted the organizer. They told me that the Spectrum party was for the LGBTQ community, and if I had been added to the group by mistake, they would remove me from the list. I told them no, don’t do that, I’m sure I will have a good time at the party. It’s just a party. It’s not like I’m pledging a fraternity.
Other story.
About ten years ago, I was dating a girl, and we were discussing many things. The topic of baseball came up, and she blurted out to me, “Do you know that Derek Jeter is gay?”
Before I could say anything else, she told me that not only was Jeter gay, but she described in lurid detail what she thought Jeter did with other men.
Yeah, that was the last time I talked with her.
So the matter is … the Chuck the Writer blog is proud to endorse Pete Buttigieg for President. I hope he gets the Democratic nomination, and I hope he tears Trump into eeny weeny pieces on the debate stage.
Because we are in the 21st century. A man should be judged on his actions and deeds. we need to get away from homophobia and the stereotypes that are part of it.
Let’s talk about what Mayor Pete has done as an elected official.
And as for Rush Limbaugh …
Here’s all the nice things I can say about Rush Limbaugh.

Okay, I’m done.
I had a openly gay friend in HS. And a couple who weren’t open.
When I was in Boys in the Band in Binghamton in 1975, I got just a smidgen of the feeling about how gay men were perceived.

I’m watching American (and British) politics with a degree of appalled fascination. The world has clearly gone mad. They say, cometh the hour, cometh the man. I’m waiting patiently for somebody with some common sense, sincerity, honesty, intelligence, generosity and empathy to show up. I have the awful feeling I will be waiting for a long time because the bully boys seem to have the world by the throat. So very sad for the human race. We are capable of so much better.

As a bisexual genderfluid person? Pete Buttigeig SCARES me. He’s lying about other candidates and his platform is harmful for me and my future wife. I want to have children one day and he wants those children to have mandatory military service. I want my kids to choose for themselves.
And honestly, his policies are old school republican and I don’t want to go back to that. Let’s move forward. Sanders and Warren both have great platforms for LGBTQ+ as well as for helping out the lower classes of this country.
Biden is a republican trying to distance himself from Obama by saying he came up with everything Obama did. THAT may be true in that they discussed it, but that’s probably it.
I’m just saying if you have a vulnerable person in your family (whether black/latinx/lgbtq+/child/disabled/other) and you think that Buttigeig will help them? I don’t believe that for a second.

His service plan is not mandatory and not military. It’s Volunrary Paid service jobs much like Peace Corp or Americorp.
As for his policies what Republican in history has advocated to legalize marijuana, get rid of the filibuster, make DC and Puerto Rico states and overturn Citizens United?
You are allowed to vote for who you want but please don’t lie about his policies. Have a good day

His ideas about service aren’t for mandatory service and not just military service. What about his ideas to reshape the federal judiciary Republican? His ideas about the Electoralm College?
I also don’t recall hearing lies about other candidates.

I just don’t trust someone who is parroting talking points of people who are better qualified. Sanders and Warren have been in the Senate. He’s a mayor? What’s his foreign policy?

As a gender-nonconforming lesbian (since apparently we’ve decided that matters), I have to say…..what?? What part of “15/hr minimum wage” “abolish the electoral college” “reform the supreme court to remove political bias” “unionize literally everyone” “investigate options for reparations for slavery” “make DC and PR states” “enforce stronger LGBT rights” “enforce stronger disability rights” “end mental illness stigma” “make climate change our single biggest priority in all things” “pay for college” “pay for childcare” “pay for senior care” “pay for healthcare” screams REPUBLICAN to you? What Republicans have *you* been hanging out with, they sound awesome.

He’s taking money from corporations and lied that he won the Iowa Caucus. NOPE. He won’t take money out of politics.

There are more Democrats than Republicans in the USA, so the Democrats should easily win.
Unfortunately the Democrat Party is deeply fractured, which is why they will lose.
Without unification the Republicans aren’t fighting one opposition party, they’re handily winning over six subsets of Democrats.

It’s actually VERY EASY to find a candidate, you’re just looking at the wrong party.
You don’t think “Booty-judge” is funny but you just called Trump an orange goblin the other day. Is that supposed to be funnier?
It’s interesting that you didn’t mention a single policy. It sounds like you’re supporting Buttigieg simply because he’s gay. I don’t care if we have a second gay president or that you peruse gay websites. There’s plenty of room on the Trump Train for everyone.

Please explain in what way you think overt homophobia and making fun of a (white, straight, male) guy’s appearance are equivalents. The latter may be rude, and may be offensive, and as an aside I myself don’t do it (because it stopped being funny like four years ago). But nobody gets murdered in the street for having a bad spraytan.
