There’s still part of me that wishes I could have seen the train as it made its journey through New York. But this will have to be the next best thing.
Last Saturday, Canadian Pacific gave us its 2021 Holiday Train “At Home” concert, where the performers gave us a 90-minute show, entertaining us in the comfort of our living rooms and laptops.
The video is embedded below, and you really should take some time and enjoy watching it.
Steven Page performs some of his hits from his Barenaked Ladies days. Keb’ Mo’ brings a soulful, jazzy style to his performance. The Trews. The Strumbellas. The Odds. One great performance after another.
And all interspersed with shots of the Holiday Train as it traveled through the Calgary railyard and throughout Alberta, just so there would be footage for the concert. Heck, Canadian Pacific even showed off a Christmas-illuminated view of its legacy steam locomotive, “The Empress,” on several night shots.
Again, remember, these concerts are both entertaining shows and fundraisers for food banks and charities throughout North America. If you can give, please do. Whether it’s to Feeding America or to your local food bank or pantry, every dollar helps. Just one dollar, in a food pantry’s hands, can feed several people.
So hopefully, if we can get past COVID-19 and the Delta and the Omicron and the Delta Tau Chi variants, maybe – just maybe – the train can travel through North America again.
I’d like that.
I really would.
