Bachelor Cooking: Blueberry Muffins

Let’s say that you want to celebrate some nice life event with someone special. You could go to the store and buy some delicious muffins … or hit the drive-thru at Dunkin’ Donuts for a box of muffins ..

Or you can be a self-sufficient bachelor and make your own.

Let me explain. It’s so easy, even a bachelor can do it.

Here are your ingredients.

  • One egg
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • One carton of blueberries
  • One box of Jiffy blueberry muffin mix
  • Kosher salt (every recipe needs Kosher salt)

Secret number one. Go to the grocery store and buy those aluminum muffin tins. You can bake six muffins per tin, and the packages often come with the little paper cupcake inserts.

Get this kind of Jiffy blueberry muffin mix. It’s not expensive, and Amazon has crates of this stuff.

Don’t those muffins look tasty on the box?

Preheat oven to 400 F.

Place the little paper cups in the muffin pan. A good rule of thumb is one paper cup per spot in the muffin pan. You don’t get bonus points for using five paper cups for one muffin.

Crack open the egg and pour the egg contents in a bowl. Toss away the egg shell.

Pour in the 1/4 cup of milk.

Pour in the Jiffy mix. Stir. It’s going to be lumpy. Don’t worry about that.

Put a small amount in each muffin cup – just enough to cover the bottom of the muffin cup. Get your fresh blueberries and put one or two in the muffin cup. Add more batter over those blueberries. Your muffin cups should be 2/3 full, don’t overfill the cups. Place another fresh blueberry on top of the batter.

Into the oven you go. 15 minutes to cook, but check on them after 13 minutes.

Put the Kosher salt away. Seriously? You were going to use Kosher salt in a recipe for cupcakes? What kind of bonkbrain are you? What clown told you to even consider Kosher salt in this recipe? 😀

Okay. Muffins are done.

Take them out of the oven. Turn OFF the oven. DO NOT FORGET TO TURN OFF THE OVEN.

Let them rest for a minute or two.

Take each muffin out carefully and place them on a plate.

Take a photo of them to prove that you can actually cook.

There you have it. Juicy blueberry muffins that are simply made and simply tasty.

So easy, even a bachelor can make them.
