It’s time for me to sit back, review my entire 2023 output, and see what blog posts I feel really stood out for the year. There were some great ones, there were some personal ones … but they were all part of what made this blog post what it is. And here we go.
- 10. I had major surgery this year to remove a diabetic abscess from my big toe. It involved the partial amputation of the toe. And in order to rationalize what was going on with my life … I named the soon-to-be-removed toe after someone in Congress we all could do better without.
- 9. I tried to do a nice deed earlier this year when I found a BJ’s Wholesale Club membership card on the ground and returned it to the store. Well, the good deed didn’t work out as I hoped.
- 8. My 2022 photo A BicolorSunflower was recreated and re-stitched into a latched hook rug. And the rug even took a ribbon at the New York State Fair, so that’s a good thing.
- 7. Any fandom and respect I had for Antonio Brown as a Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver extraordinaire were squashed during his putrid run as the owner of the Albany Empire arena football team. And that included his aborted stunt that he would “suit up” for the Empire in a game.
- 6. My college’s women’s ice hockey team made the NCAA Division III Frozen Four … but not without the NCAA mangling my school’s name. It’s Hamilton, not Hamiliton. Come on, now.
- 5. My 2017 Chevrolet Volt Premier (“Lightning’s Girl”) has worked like a charm this year … although I did have to deal with a battery issue. No, not that battery. Another battery.
- 4. Nothing like ending up in the middle of an All Elite Wrestling TV show when two wrestlers are arguing with each other and I’m right in the middle arguing back. Fun stuff.
- 3. Summer Bowl Trivia Tournament. My Street Academy trivia team is now five-time champions. Let me repeat. Five-time champions. Yeah.
- 2. I celebrated my 60th birthday this year with a retrospective of 60 people who, in one way or another, helped me reach that plateau.
- 1. After planning for months and months and months … I snagged a cloud-dressed annular eclipse photo on a trip to Texas. Oh, and I also discovered that I have an extended family living in San Antonio, so that’s amazing, too.
That’s a pretty strong 2023.
And 2024 is just on the horizon.
I’m ready to blog about it as much as I possibly can.
Congrats. Blogging every day is difficult, I think, and you seem to write daily, except for the fiction, which I assume, you write beforehand.
