A request from Heather Kovar

Because my blog posts have a 30-day window for comments or posts (to avoid my getting spammed like crazy on vintage posts), I’ll sometimes get messages from people who want to talk to me about some of my legacy writings. They’ll click on the “Contact Chuck Miller” link at the top of my blog, write me a message about how they loved this blog post from 2013, or that they thought I was way off base from that 2019 post about something I’ve completely forgotten about in 2025.

So I was kinda surprised to receive a message from Heather Kovar.

Heather Kovar was an anchorperson for WRGB a few years ago, when a horrible mix of exhaustion, family loss and who knows what caused her to have a very uncomfortable day live on air. And yeah, when that happens, various organizations will make this thing go viral. And eventually Heather Kovar left WRGB. Honestly, I thought WRGB did Heather Kovar dirty in the way they treated her after that broadcast. Almost as if they both punished her and exploited the results.

And some time later, I heard that Heather Kovar had landed on her feet and was back in broadcasting, working for a channel in College Station, Texas. And I wished her the best of luck in that new endeavor.

But then something happened … and it was very unpleasant. And once again, Heather Kovar became a tabloid news story, for all the wrong reasons.

Notice the comment someone left on that last post. Someone named Melody Parisi commented, “Have you tried to help her?”

Not really sure what I can do from here. I’m in New York. She’s in Texas.

So …. back to the beginning of this story. Remember when I talked about people contacting me through my “Contact Chuck Miller” link at the top of my blog?

Well … apparently I received a message from Heather Kovar herself. She requested that I please take her mugshot down from the blog post.

I thought about the request. I thought about it for a few days. I mean, this was a blog post from almost a year ago. I’ve got over 6,000 blog posts on this site, who’s got time to read them all? Who would even care?

And then I thought some more. And I realize that I’ve had dark moments in my life. I’ve done stupid things and had stupid things happen to me. And if those stupid actions ever ended up on someone else’s blog site, and they simply glorified my failure and ran with it like it was a baton at a relay race … I would never feel comfortable. And to be totally honest … everybody does stupid shit in their life. And everybody has someone who’s done stupid shit to them.

In the grand scheme of things, I may have stones, but I have no right to throw them.

I have to think that at some point in life, Heather Kovar will want to enjoy a life where she isn’t constantly asked, “Hey, aren’t you the person who … ” and have someone search her name in an online search engine, and the first thing that pops up is my blog post with her 2024 mugshot on it.

So I went back to that August 2024 blog post, and at Heather Kovar’s request, I removed the mugshot photo.

And at that point, the request of Melody Parisi – who never commented on my blog before, and to this moment has not commented since – has been answered.

So, Heather Kovar, wherever you are, whatever you’re doing in this life, I hope you’re in a good place. I hope you have plenty of support and plenty of opportunities for wherever the road takes you.

And if I ever hear your name again …

I hope it’s for all the best reasons.
