One of my Facebook friends posted this on his page, and it caught me. One of the original core members of the band Kiss – guitarist Ace Frehley – passed away at the age of 74.
And if you’ve ever attended a Kiss concert – and I mean with the original core members of Ace, Gene, Peter and Paul – then you know there was always one point in the show where Ace performed his song ‘Shock Me” and demonstrated his guitar prowess.
And during that time when all four members of Kiss released simultaneous solo albums, the only one that actually produced a Top 40 hit from those albums was Ace.
Proof.
Ace would later return to Kiss during the 1990’s for a series of reunion shows, including two shows in Albany – one for the Kiss reunion album Psycho Circus, and one while they were just enjoying reuniting. Yes, i went to both of them. No, I did not paint my face. But I can tell you there were plenty of Aces in the crowd – lots of Gene’s, some Pauls, a few Peter’s, and I swear I saw a Vinnie Vincent or two in the stands.
That being said, this post is not so much about a eulogy of a rock legend.
It’s more about how artificial intelligence really treated this with as much tact as a sledgehammer in a plate glass factory.
Facebook has their little AI generating program, and it will attach itself to any and all posts. So take a look at how Facebook’s AI treated Ace Frehley’s passing. Hint – the AI quote is at the bottom of this image.

Well, no shit, Sherlock. Of course Ace Frehley canceled his 2025 tour. Where’s he going to perform from, the pearly gates? I mean, did he go Led Zeppelin or AC/DC? (As in, did he go Stairway to Heaven or Highway to Hell?)
Yeah. Just another case of AI slop appearing at the worst possible moment. Ugh.
Then again, I’m still of the belief that artificial intelligence – is neither.
So there’s that.
And later AI will give us his “new” recording as it is used to deep-fake a performance the way it has been with other deceased stars.
I really hate AI. I also hate Farcebook telling me their version is my new best friend and putting its undeletable contact at the top of my list. (Yes I’ve got it on just now as it’s the only way to communicate with the Mrs. when she’s overseas.)
