Well, at first I received acceptance notices from the Eastern States Exposition (the “Big E”)’s photography competition. Specifically, of the seven photos I entered, the Big E wants these two for the walls of the New England Center.
Then I received a different response. The two pictures were NOT accepted. In fact, none of my artwork was chosen for 2026.
Then I received a THIRD response. Apparently due to a computer glitch, some acceptances were sent out as rejections, and verce visa. The third email contained a detailed list of all the entries submitted – boy there were a lot – and A CO Railfan’s Dream and Herbie Jr :v) Was Here were, indeed, accepted.
Yep, the two pictures that snagged blue ribbons at Saratoga are still garnering silks. Essentially these are my Affirmed and Alydar for 2026.
Apparently due to a massive increase in entries – according to the Big E, they received nearly twice as many entries as last year – they had to really “thin the herd” regarding acceptances. Thankfully, this cuts down on Chuck’s personal production costs. I only have to print and foam-board two prints, instead of seven.
Works for me.
Oh, and I also have to drop off this big beautiful latched hook rug, so there’s a chance to claim a third silk of some sort. And I’m good with that.
Better get my entries ready for Massachusetts. 😀
