Last month, I submitted two of my legacy pieces – the lenticular color-changing Grateful Dead Super Beetle car The Long, Strange Trip, and my film collage of the Hamilton College Chapel, The Congregation of Carissima, to the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts for consideration in their regional juried photography show.
I’m not expecting anything … but you never know. A print of The Long, Strange Trip was accepted as a “Work of Art” a few years ago at the Albany Institute of History and Art’s show, and I did garner a second-place silk for The Congregation of Carissima last year at the Big E, so there’s at least some heritage with these two prints.
But past acceptance doesn’t mean future acceptance.
Then again, yesterday’s email from the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts might say differently.
Seriously.
This was in my email box when I returned home from my trivia hosting gig.
“Congratulations!! Both of your submissions have been accepted! Please see the attached document for more details! Thank you!”
Now THAT feels good!!
Drop-off day for these little treasures is in three weeks, with a gallery premiere on September 11 at the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts in Little Falls. Super-sweet!
And for a change, it’s nice to give some of these legacy pieces a bit of love. And I’m totally on board with that.
