Okay. Here’s a quick recap. I photographed a squirrel who had just stolen a bird feeder suet cake and was eating like it was a buffet option at Golden Corral.
This was the picture I used for the latch hook rug.
And the last time I blogged about this project, my latch hook rug was at this current level of completion.
So, a few things to discuss before I reveal my update.
You see that rectangular void in the center of the canvas? That’s because I’m working from a very large self-created pattern, and each page is about 3 1/2 inches square on the finished canvas. Once I finish that page, I work towarsd anotherpage. And in this instance, I wanted to complete the left and right columns before I completed the project’s center.
There’s still about twelve pages of printed pattern left before this rug is complete.
And yes, there’s the name of this little squirrel.
As far as I’m concerned, his name is Ganef. And yes, as one of my blog readers pointed out, that is the same as the Yiddish word “goniff,’ the word for a thief. Well, considering this little guy stole a bird seed suet cake and went to town on it … the name is apropos.
Okay. Let’s see what level we’re at today.
Not bad. No noticeable squirrel or suet cake yet, but there’s time. The main thing about this project is that it’s coming along nicely.
Now a few things to notice from this rug at this stage of completion.
Those green edges on the left and right sides – those are the border lines for the project. It’s also a good judicial use of five bags of paddy green yarn that I had available – and since this project only takes two STRANDS of paddy green, I can use the yarn as a border to frame the final product. So we are good on that front.
