The Pittsburgh Steelers will commence their march to Super Bowl 61 this Sunday at 1:00 p.m., when they clobber the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium. This should be good. Especially since Atlanta is starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (oh wait, isn’t that “Tua Turn the ball over”?). Yeah, I’m ready for this.
And when I say “ready for this,” understand that there are actually songs and music that are essential for any Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Allow me to demonstrate.
In the early 1970’s, local musician Jimmy Pol put together an interpolation of the old “Pennsylvania Polka” song, adding lyrics to celebrate the Steelers. The original version mentions the Franco Harris fan group “Franco’s Italian Army,” and Harris gets his own lyric – hey, when you earn Rookie of the Year, you’re entitled.

Now Jimmy Pol created the song back when the Steelers were the NFL’s doorstop. 40 years without even a sniff of the postseason.
But after a few Super Bowl Championships in the trophy case, Jimmy Pol updated the polka song with new references and new adulation for the black and gold.
And if you go to a Steelers football game, they still play the Pittsbrugh Steelers Polka prior to each contest. And it’s hella cool.
Okay. The next essential track you need as a Steelers fan is actually a song by the band Styx.
Specifically – this track.
Now take “Renegade,” play it in the third quarter of a Steelers game, and watch as 60,000 fans in the stadium swing their Terrible Towels in the air to will a TJ Watt fumble recovery into the end zone, or an 87-yard scramble from Jaylen Warren all the way to the house.

The third track you need as a Steelers fan is Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow,” an homage to the colors of the greatest professional football team of all time. And before any of you jokers say, “The Patriots don’t wear black and yellow,” I tell you to go stand in a corner and confess your sins, ya chowderhead.
One more track … Pittsburgh Steelers fan Roger Wood creates a new “Here We Go, Steelers” song every year, updating the lyrics to add new players and hype. This was the track from last year, and yeah we’ll have to update it with the addition of Rico Dowdle, Michael Pittman Jr., Kaden Wetjen, and Eli Heidenrich. Yeppers.
