Three months (and counting) with Chuck Force One

In July 2026, I purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu hybrid car to replace my beloved ’17 Chevy Volt. I went from Lightning’s Girl to the newly-named “Chuck Force One,” so named because it looks like the black parade car in a Presidential motorcade.

Specifically … this car.

And with that in mind … it’s time to actually review Chuck Force One after two months of ownership.

The car handles very well, the ride is smooth. The seats are comfy, and so far there has not been any nick of trouble.

The mileage is decent – not as gas-sippy as my last car, but it’s definitely fuel-efficient.

The car handles well on long trips – whether I’m taking my girl Suzanne to Vermont for a covered bridge tour, or taking my girl Suzanne for an extended road trip somewhere.

Trunk size is reasonable – it will hold my Peavey broadcast system and my Meyer-Optik-Gorlitz 300mm telephone lens (the one I nicknamed “Johnny Wadd”) without trouble. Plus, the rear seat folds down to allow more cargo and cabin room, should I need it.

And next month, I get to bring the car back to the sales place for a 90-day checkup and tuneup. And I’m good with that.

Yeah, I have a new-to-me car. And I have new-to-me car payments (again). But I’m doing what I usually do with car payments – I overpay the monthly minimum to get the car paid off as quickly as possible and to minimize interest charges. Be frugal. Save your pennies and they will come back as dollars.

To make this as simple as possible … I’m definitely liking Chuck Force One.

And that’s all I can ask of a car. A comfy, dependable ride, and no hidden check-engine-light surprises.

Just the way a Chevrolet should be. 🙂
