Backstory.
Last year, I helped a friend of mine as a fill-in host for some competitive team trivia. One hosting gig led to another, and now I currently host a regular game at Van Patten Golf Course in Clifton Park. It’s a fun Wednesday night excursion, and I have a few regular teams that seem to enjoy my show.
Well … that hosting gig is about to increase.
As of next week, I also picked up a Thursday night trivia game at the Hilton Garden Inn in Albany, in a building across from the UAlbany campus. The game plays on alternate Thursday nights, starting at 6:00 p.m.
And it keeps getting better.
Because beginning in October, I will pick up a Tuesday night trivia game at Katie O’Byrnes, a bar in Schenectady. So that will be two and a half trivia hosting gigs per week.
Man, if this keeps up, I’ll need one of those super-long telescopic microphones and a Gene Rayburn toupee.
So this is cool. I enjoy hosting competitive team trivia, it’s different from my previous experiences as a player – and it allows me to enjoy the community and the atmosphere without feeling like I have to compete against everyone else in the tavern.
And the extra pocket change won’t hurt, either. I mean, now that I have a new mouth to feed – and by “mouth to feed,” I’m talking about the car note on Chuck Force One. You know how I feel about car notes – I have to pay them off as quickly as possible. That’s the way things work for me. If I can get a six-year car note paid off in two years … that makes me feel really awesome.
So this ought to be fun. And I’m looking forward to it.
Man, I tell you. Between my new blooming relationship with Suzanne, my success with art and galleries, and now this …
If this is all a dream … DO NOT WAKE ME UP.
Soon you will be dreaming of flamingos.
