Yes, I did watch The Dukes of Hazzard on Friday nights in the late 70’s / early 80’s. Not so much for the antics of Bo and Luke Duke, or for the short-shorts-and-panty-hose rocking Daisy Duke (although Daisy Duke was certainly a nice satchel of eye candy).
No, I was watching for the General Lee, the 1969 Dodge Charger with the 01 on the welded-shut side doors. Apparently in storyline, the General Lee was the Duke Boys’ NASCAR ride that also doubled as their daily driver. And the General Lee had enough oomph to jump the various washed-out bridges and chasms that surrounded Hazzard County in every episode.
That being said …
The other day, I’m picking up some breakfast at a local fast food eatery … when I spot something.
Someone had painted their daily driver to look like the classic General Lee, complete with the blocky 01 racing numbers and the international orange paint shade.
However …
There’s something wrong with this car. Because the General Lee is a 1969 Dodge Charger.
The General Lee is NOT a Volkswagen Jetta. Yikes.

Jeez, the next thing you’re going to tell me is that Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane and Boss Hogg are chasing this car while driving matching Tesla Cybertrucks. #hahahahaha
