Yesterday had beautiful sunshine, which gave me an opportunity to test out the Kolari Vision modification to my Zodiak 30mm 180-degree bubble lens. Instead of filters attached to the outside of the camera lens, this lens actually needs the filters installed INSIDE the lens before the lens can attach to the camera.
I wanted some customized filter housings for this, and the good people at Kolari Vision were able to provide.
So here I am at Hudson Shores Park – a little green space between Watervliet and Green Island. It’s a walking trail and picnic area (and has plenty of car-charging spots, yay). I hooked the car up to a charging spot, then went for a walk.
And I found what I wanted. This is a bur oak tree along the walkway.

That’s nice. But that was taken with my cell phone camera.
Let’s see what happens when I shoot with an installed 720nm filter.

God freakin’ damn. That is swank like Big Bank Hank. I like this a LOT.
But I’m not done.
I went back to the car, unscrewed the 720nm filter, and switched filters to the IRChrome filter. Let’s see what I get from this.

Sweet fancy pancy, I’ve got at least TWO images to choose from going forward for Competition Season 2026. This is swank. Chuck approves.
And believe me, this also boosts my confidence for my June photo shoots. I hadn’t thought about bringing my Df infrared modified camera on my trips.
Now I’m thinking it might be a good idea to do so.
Trust me on this.
