Thursday morning. I just finished delivering my Equinox Thanksgiving Day turkey dinners to a family in Fonda, and I’m on my way back to the New York State Thruway.
And just then, I saw them.
Three goats.
In the middle of the road.
Coming straight at my car.
I slowed down. I don’t need Cardachrome dented with mutton or chevon. And although it’s customary in Texas to have your car hood decorated with cattle horns, I didn’t need any goat’s horns adorning my front grille.
And then, as the goats passed my car on their way to wherever – maybe they’re going to take out the troll on the bridge – I quickly snagged my Flip video recorder and captured the moment.
And then… three more goats followed the path to freedom.
All I can say is… if someone’s looking for some goat’s milk or butter or cheese, or maybe some curry goat, it’s probably still running down the road in Fonda.
Mutton is sheep, not goat.

Adult goat meat can be called mutton, too…

Ok, but not really…that wikipedia link says that technically mutton only refers to sheep. That’s why I only use wikipedia for looking up stereotypes.
And you cannot dispute that Muttley ALWAYS refers to dog.

No kidding here. They’re headed for those dinners you dropped off.

I saw a barn up the road in the direction the goats came from….did you stop in to see if possibly their critters escaped? If not theirs then they might have known where the goats belonged…just sayin’…..

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……….Goat’s milk…….When I was in the USN, when we set out to sea we knew when we reached the halfway point in the Atlantic when we started to receive goat’s milk instead of cows milk at the chow line.
