Not everybody writes a blog post every day. Some people take time off. Some people take lots of time off. Some people take so much time off, that they end up in Jango Davis’ “Zombie Blogs” feature in the comment section of my blog.
And then… when you least expect it… they return. And when you read their posts, you realize how much you missed what they had to say and how much you enjoy reading their words once again. People are allowed to take a break. I’m just glad that after they’ve recharged their batteries, they’re generating away on new blog content. And that’s a plus.
Today’s treasure trove of blog tropes from the TU’s community blogging team includes:
- Dan Lyons’ “Classic Cars” blog, “Rear View Mirror: 1968 Mercury Park Lane.” (Read this first; it explains the concept of wooden-paneled station wagons.)
- Megan Willis’ “The Davenport Chronicles,” “What I did on my winter vacation, by Megan Willis.“
- Ken Screven’s blog, “It has to stop.“
- Rev. Alan Rudnick’s blog, “5 phrases that frustrate Millennials in church.”
- Stephanie Snyder’s “A Professor’s Wife” blog, “Sad to See you go, RSG Colonie.“
- Renate Hartman in the “Transgender Talk” blog, “‘Hearts in the right place’ don’t matter in the fight against discrimination, actions matter.“
- David Kalish’s “The Ruminator” blog, “An oddly placed ad on my Times Union blog post.“
- Jeannine Trimboli’s “Real [FIT] Life” blog, “This is a boring fitness blog.“
- Megan Elbrecht in the “Beer Nut” blog, “Megan’s Local Adventures in Beer Touring.“
- Roger Green’s “Information Without the Bun” blog, “A Swiftian letter from Ari Wolfe to Albany education administrators.“
Always good to have some of the TU’s bloggers come back and write again. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not “Hey, what took you so long?”
It’s actually “We missed you.”
Jango’s Zombie Blogs: 250 words a month – is that too much to ask?
Blogs not updated for at least three months, ranked by oldest to most recent:
I waited a little bit since the last list to see if there would be any significant changes in the Zombie blogs list – but alas, to no avail.
In the number one position:
Troy Business Improvement District 5/21/2014: It has been 11 months since this blog has been updated by Ms. former journalist Erin whatshername. I make poke fun at Troy now and then, but I’ve worked in Troy for years, it deserves a strong booster. How a business improvement district can justify abandoning a blog, and why the otherwise attentive Mr. Huber is allowing this abortion of a blog to remain up after 11 months dead is a question for the ages…maybe Mike is hoping it will spontaneous evolve sentience and write itself.

Don Rittner 11/6/2014 – Come back Don.
Farmlife 11/10/2014
The Zan Blog 11/17/2014 – Kast post “The great affair is to move,” and apparently she has.

Jango, I apologize for not weeding the blog garden as frequently as I should. We’re all doing more (work) with less (staff) around here. I’ll archive these blogs soon as I can. Thanks, Mike

You’re awesome Mike! I think it’s been a long winter for a lot of people. I hope the spring inspires everyone to get back at it. I really do enjoy most of those listed.
I should give a shout out for the return of the Davenport Chronicles (welcome back Megan) and Mike Connors, whose absence due to medical reasons reminds us that the bloggers do have lives outside the TU. Wish we knew so our thoughts could’ve been with you Mike, but glad you’re back at it.

It’s under my real name, sorry Roz. I also have a YouTube and Soundcloud Channel to support it, but I generally avoid politics, sex, religion, and current events, so most will find it boring.
