Well, the Albany Patroons nearly went two weeks without an opponent. Their road game against the New York Court Kings was postponed due to travel conditions; and their road game against the Owensboro Thoroughbreds was also postponed due to arena scheduling issues.
That made last night’s road game against the Tampa Bay Titans Albany’s first game in over ten days.
And the Patroons picked up where they left off, completely stomping the Titans 122-95 – including outscoring Tampa 86-52 in the second half. Or better yet … they outscored Tampa 47-23 in the final quarter. That’s just an old-fashioned beat down.
Albany’s main veterans had some big numbers last night – Lloyd “Pooh” Johnson scored 32 points in the win, while Edwin Ubiles followed with 30. Pooh went 6-for-11 from three-point range, while Ubiles nearly matched him with a 5-for-10 long distance accuracy.
The big man, Darius Paul, had a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds, he also notched three blocked shots.
That’s big. Albany remains unbeaten and tied for the TBL basketball standings lead at 4-0. The Kansas City Tornadoes are at 6-0, but that’s only because Albany didn’t get to play two games on their schedule – yet.
Of course, after such a long period of inactivity, the Patroons return for a two-game homestand at the Washington Avenue Armory, where they host the Jamestown Jackals on Friday night (7p start) and Saturday night (5p start).
Let’s put it this way. These are the only Pats that are worth watching this weekend.
Besides … isn’t it better to watch Albany’s hometown professional basketball talent play some key matchups to improve their position on the TBL standings …
Or watch some game with this guy?
Hey, the chyron doesn’t lie.
