Albany loses close double-overtime game 151-143 to Jamestown …

Well … that was fun.

It was a Saturday afternoon game at the Armory, the Patroons hosting the Jamestown Jackals, and I was covering as the PA announcer due to the Patroons’ PA announcer having a commitment with the Cage Wars event over at Rivers Casino.

And by the end of the night … everybody was checking their watches.

Because the Patroons and the Jamestown Jackals played like they were working on a doubleheader.  While Jamestown led most of the contest, the Patroons clawed back to a 109-109 tie.  The fans were excited.

Now we go to overtime, and although the Patroons had carved out an eight-point lead, the Jackals punched back with two 3-pointers and a layup in the final 14 seconds.  Ugh.  Double-overtime.

And in that, the Jackals pulled away.

The tough part is … both these teams have to face each other this afternoon, with a 3pm start.

And these games are important, because both the Patroons and the Jackals are scraping for that final playoff spot in the TBL.  No one wants to be left home when the season ends.

Certainly not me.  I want the Patroons to advance and continue.

I mean … who doesn’t? 😀
