Let’s do something with these railroad photos, shall we?

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea why I’m doing this.

Yes, I do.

I want to improve my craft. And if I can get at least one of these images accepted in a railroad magazine … then I’m going to try.

Railfan & Railroad Magazine has an upcoming Center Spread contest, in which one well-chosen photo will appear in the center of their magazine. The winner gets $100. There’s also secondary and honorable mention prizes available.

Now I really don’t take that many railroad photos … okay, stop laughing over there, I can hear you.

I went through my archives, and I think the following three images are my best chances for entry.

Let’s see how this works out.

Yep. One from the Saratoga, Coirnth & Hudson Railroad, one from the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, and one from the Strasburg Rail Road.

Look … if nothing makes it through, I won’t cry. I mean, Strasburg No. 90 already picked up two blue ribbons in 2021, and that specific Saratoga, Corinth & Hudson Railroad image is currently at the New York State Fair. So I’m good on those fronts. And I will always have a place in my heart for my Holiday Train photos.

But now I’m operating in a realm of railroad photography, an area that’s not one of my main specialties. It just means that I still feel like I have a chance at this, though.

And, in all honesty … I’m good with that.
