APRIL FOOL’S DAY – The New York Yankees enter 20-year, $3 billion sponsorship deal with Elon Musk, Tesla, X

According to a report today in EPSN SportsNews, the New York Yankees have agreed to terms with one of the largest sponsorship deals in sports history, as the richest man in the word, Elon Musk, will pay $3 billion to sponsor the Yankees for 20 years. The deal will provide the Yankees with a new and powerful revenue stream to remain competitive in the sports world.

“We saw what happened when we lost Juan Soto to the Mets this season,” said Yankees press secretary Connie Morgan of the deal, which will begin immediately for the 2025 season. “Sponsorship deals are hard to come by, and we agree this will benefit our franchise for decades to come.”

The deal involves several changes to the Yankees’ brand and traditions. Musk will now have corporate naming rights on what was formerly known as Yankee Stadium, and will now be known for the next twenty years through this sponsorship deal as Elon Musk Field at Yankee Stadium. Broadcasters and reporters will be required to refer to the facility in their reports either as “Elon Musk Field,” or “Musk Stadium,” depending on the nature of the story.

The Yankees’ uniforms will also undergo slight modifications, with the traditional pinstrips being removed from all official gear. Instead, the traditional grey colors will be replaced with shades that border between International Orange and Sunset Vermillion. The uniforms will also feature a huge “X” on the players’ backs and hats, with the fabled “NY” crest moved from the front of the helmet to the side.

The sponsorship deal will also bring back the “bullpen car,” a feature used by baseball teams during the 1960’s and 1970’s to bring the relief pitcher to the mound. At the newly-christened Elon Musk Field, the Yankees’ pitchers will arrive from the bullpen to the mound in a Tesla CyberTruck, and groundscrew are currently working on ways to mitigate the damage caused in the outfield by the CyberTruck’s grass-destroying tire treads. “We’ll fix it,” said one groundscrew. “It’s not like a divot in the ground would cause any injury to an outfielder running to get a fly ball. Not a big deal.”

The Yankees will also be required to remove any references to diversity, equity or inclusion in Elon Musk Field. All handicapped ramps will be removed from the facility, and references in Monument Park to such players as Reggie Jackson and Mariano Rivera will be relocated to a secondary facility on Gun Hill Road in the Bronx.
