I cannot believe I have to write this again.
I cannot believe ignorant people exist and believe this crapola.
But here we are. We’re back to the whole “trans people don’t belong in women’s sports” battle.
And it all started with Sophie Cunningham. Sophie Cunningham went from a “who the hell is she” to a viral sensation just because she pointed at someone in the middle of a WNBA basketball game.
Then she did an ESPN interview, and the interview contained this little bon mot:
“”I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,'” she says. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.””
Ugh. She’s basically saying that she doesn’t hate trans people, but she’s using the same tired old trope that you have to protect young girls from getting attacked in the locker room against ‘biological men.'”
Which has now elevated into this charade. Two former NBA players (and in one case, I’m using “former” very loosely), Enes Kantor Freedom and Royce White, are now “declaring for the WNBA 2027 draft.” They’re arguing that the definition of a woman, at least according to the WNBA, can be whittled down to self-declaration. Kanter Freedom, who played for eleven years for several NBA teams, said that he self-identifies as a woman, and therefore he’s eligible to play in the WNBA.
Then we get Royce White. Royce White played a total of NINE MINUTES in three NBA games. He now claims he identifies as a woman – but only when playing basketball – and that if he is not selected by a WNBA team in the upcoming draft, he will sue the WNBA to join a team.
So what we have here are a couple of attention-seeking clowns who want to use the WNBA as a cudgel to either troll trans people in sports, or to troll women in sports – or maybe both.
Let’s get a couple of things straight. Trans people are people. They are not subhuman, they are not deviants, they are not some disposable cudgel.
And if you’re trying to protect “young girls” against “biological men,” I’m not sure anyone would want Royce White – an ultra-MAGA clown who has “Trump 2024” tattooed on his skull – who also has a 50-year order of protection to stay away from his family – in that vicinity.
All this is is one godawful publicity stunt that was sparked by an ignorant comment by the WNBA’s equivalent of Bill Laimbeer.
Besides, this story has been told before. There was this movie called Juwanna Mann …
And then again in this crap-tastic propaganda film Lady Ballers …
Trust me. The only thing Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White and Sophie Cunningham are doing right now is using trans people as their own “strawmen” to make themselves relevant.
Idiots. And I can’t believe I just wasted my morning blogging about these knuckleheads.

it is really upsetting that people would feel that threatened that they would feel the need to criticize others and make fun of them. what are they afraid of? trans people have already had to withstand so much, this kind of behavior makes it even harder for them and serves no positive purpose other than to instill fear in others.

Want to fix the clown show that permeates the WNBA?
1. Hire a new commissioner who is more interested in the officiating, integrity and success of WNBA basketball, than stressing over how to keep women (once finally defined) from fighting.
2. SINCERE trans athletes should follow the lead of the NBA (in ’49) and the WNBA (in ’96): organize, recruit, grow and form the Trans National Basketball Association (TNBA). Advantage!: Recruits could include both trans men AND trans women.
But this is too obvious, and too easy to dance around.
