Maybe it’s the fact that I still believe in giving back and doing good things in my community. Or maybe I’m just a softie for dogs. I don’t know. Either one is an acceptable answer.
The East Greenbush Police Department is hosting a fundraiser for one of their K-9 police dogs. The fundraiser will include bingo, food, and raffle prizes.
Maybe it’d be better if I showed you the image graphic. So let’s do that.
The fundraiser will help to defray the costs of training these canine police officers. So yeah, I’m interested in helping out. Now where did I put those bingo ink pens …
Oh, yeah. Do you see the spot on the advertisement that offers “gift basket raffles”?
Well, yesterday I dropped off a signed and framed Chuck Miller artwork to the East Greenbush Police Department.
Specifically, this artwork.
This is a deep-stacked super-macro shot of the stitches of a weathered baseball. I took this photo in 2020 – right in the middle of the one-two punch of a broken (and repaired) ankle, and the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. Don’t get on my case, I’m sure you baked tons of sourdough bread and learned sea shanties while we were all in lockdown.
High and Tight would later claim a second-place silk at the 2021 Iowa State Fair’s photography salon, as well as a display and showing at the 2021 New York State Fair and the 2021 Durham Fair. So it’s an award winner and a display piece, for sure. And I’m good with that.
And if this artwork helps add a few extra dollars to training a police dog to rescue a trapped body, or to train a police dog to sniff out explosives or drugs …
Then I’m good with that.
The K-9 fundraiser takes place this Sunday. Definitely consider it as a great Sunday night get-together.
