Writing, Photography, and the life lessons I learned from Street Academy
Here it is. This was once an old Philco radio cabinet, a worn-out husk that I bought on eBay for a few dollars. I added colored glass, dollhouse furniture and velvet interior, and created something spiritual and special. I didn’t plan on building this artwork for anything other than a proof of concept, a way…
Read MoreSaw this on Facebook and could not resist sharing it with all of you. Apparently some policemen at the Indiana State Fair decided to have a little fun. So they busted out a lip-sync version of the classic John Travolta-Olivia Newton-John duet from the film Grease – no, not THAT duet, the other duet –…

So I need to explain this photo… But first… Sunday was the final day for the week-long Altamont Fair. It’s the time when I can actually spend the day at the Fair, taking pictures and contemplating what I could enter in 2017’s Competition Season. Best to not wait to consider my options. You snooze, you…
Read MoreOne of my personal traditions when competing in the New York State Fair’s photography competition, is that after I have found out how my entries have fared, I celebrate by eating some sort of fair food. Just to be fair, mind you. I’ve already paid the fair to get there, so there. You saw what…

She posted a Facebook message asking for any and all age-appropriate magazines, the contents of which will be used to help create vision boards and dream boards for her students. If you’ve created vision boards, you…

I’ve written blog posts about misspelled advertising signs for ages now. Heck, I could do an entire week of those blog posts simply by visiting my local Stewarts. And if I get hungry, I can go to the local sushi place and order the sex lady. That being said… Last week, I visited the the…
Read MoreI’ve known Tony Goldmark for many years. We actually met at – at all places – a “Weird Al” Yankovic convention back in 2000. Yes, I went to a “Weird Al” Yankovic convention. I went to two of them. Live with it. Tony also enjoyed “Weird Al’s” work in comedy and parody, and he later…

Yes, I’m still working on restoring the K-Chuck Cabinet, a former radio cabinet from the 1930’s that I’m repurposing into a hideaway film and lens storage cabinet. And when we last left this project, I had removed the old varnish from the cabinet with a combination of Citristrip spray, some plastic scrapers, paper towels, and…
