Yep. I made plenty of progress on this latch hook rug project, this one composed from a covered bridge photo I took last October in Vermont. This blog post recaps where I started for this project.
Honestly – the reason I’m even working on this project (and hoping I can complete it in time for Competition Season 2025) is because, way back in 2021, I tried a covered bridge latch hook project … and I basically FUBAR’d it.
Instead of carefully counting out where each row of yarn pulls was SUPPOSED to go, I mis-counted, and essentially ruined my project. It would have taken weeks to rip out all the offending strands and re-start it, and I was just too frustrated to try that. So after putting this in the back of my mind for three years … I had to try again.
And I made some decisions before I started this 2025 project.
- Stitch up the canvas, don’t jump around to squares on other parts of the pattern.
- Finish one canvas before starting another.
- Take your time. If it doesn’t get done by Competition Season 2025, there’s always Competition Season 2026.
That being said … as of the start of the new year, I’ve gotten this far on the project. Take a peek.

That is the left vertical size of the rug. I’ve got the picket fence, the curb, what looks like a red tree in the distance, and some nice sky. This looks good. And it doesn’t look like I mis-hooked any areas. So we’re good on that front.
Yeah. This looks like we’re making progress.
Check back with me in a month and let’s see if I’ve progressed.
