Earlier this year, my black and white photo Herbie Jr :v) Was Here was accepted into the digital show at Art Square New York’s black and white photography exhibition. Which, of course, made me very happy.
So happy, in fact, that when Art Square New York announced a new call for art, with the title “Infinite Palette,” I had to take another shot at this.
With “Infinite Palette,” they’re looking for the use of color in a stunning and expressive way. So I went through my archives, and pulled out these three sweethearts.
This beauty picked up two honorable mentions in competition back in the day, and I’ve always had a place in my heart for this image.

Yep, twelve years ago I fooled around with redscale film – putting the film backwards into the camera to get those powerful hues of red and yellow and orange. Wow. Those were two great captures with my old Kodak Medalist II camera, the legendary “Kodak Red.”
And finally, this little experimental doozy.
Ah, the legendary “Zipless Chuck” image, with a name only fans of Erica Jong 1970’s literature will understand.
I submitted these three and now I hope for the best.
I mean, what have I got to lose? Worst case scenario, they’re not accepted. Best case scenario … you’ll hear a bunch of whooping and cheering and celebrating from me.
And it’s actually nice to give these images a new lease on life. I mean, it’s not like they stopped being incredible 12 years ago. 😀
