The one thing you DON’T put in a dog cage.

Let’s go over a few things. What do you put in dog cages? Dogs. That’s why they’re called “dog cages.” I suppose you could put a cat in a dog cage if you wanted to. Maybe use a dog cage for some emergency storage.

A Houston mother, however, chose to put something else in her dog cage.

And at this point, I need to issue a trigger warning.

Rose Anderson apparently had some issues with her daughter’s behavior in school. So as a form of discipline for the child’s classroom antics … Rose Anderson put her 7-year-old daughter in a dog cage. She tied the kid up with zip ties. She put duct tape over the kid’s mouth. And then left the kid there in the dog cage for several hours, causing the poor child to urinate inside the cage.

If that doesn’t make you sick … this report from the ABC station in Houston gives all the grisly, gory details.

From what I can gather, Rose Anderson is a single mother that works three jobs. I don’t know how that can be considered an excuse for her actions, but it’s noted. It’s also noted that after her arrest, the judge issued a $10,000 bond for her release – which at the time of this blog, still hasn’t been paid, meaning Rose Anderson sits in a Houston jail for her crime.

Ugh. Just straight-up ugh.

So what do we do in a situation like this? Where are we in a society where a parent can put a kid in a cage and abuse that child – and only get a $10,000 bond prior to any short of possible release?

No. Get that kid into a new living situation with caring guardians.

And maybe get Rose Anderson some basic parenting 101 classes. Don’t give me the “She worked three jobs and the kid wasn’t behaving, so the child got what was coming” crapola.

Dog cages and zip ties and duct tape are not acceptable discipline under ANY circumstances. Hell, nobody would do that to a dog, let alone a child.

Ugh. And stuff like that hits home for me, as a survivor of child abuse. The whole idea of anyone doing this to a 7-year-old just makes my blood boil.

Sorry. I just can’t deal with this right now.
