This is a tragedy unlike any other. I should not have to deal with this horrible news so early in the morning. And there’s no satisfactory answers online. Nothing on social media that will answer my questions or soothe my concerns.
So I’m just going to grit my teeth and say it.
Why the hell did WordPress update my blog editing platform without telling me they were doing it? UGH!!
See, for the 11+ years I’ve had a blog, the blog has been on a WordPress platform – first at the Times Union, and currently on my own site. But yesterday, WordPress changed their editing software for blog writing to some new intuitive platform, and I can’t get it to change back. And it looks like I’m not the only one who’s frustrated with WordPress’s little stunt.
Okay, I know, I’m going to have to get used to change. It happens. Make the best of it.
Who knows? By the end of the month I’ll be proficient in this new WordPress platform.
Yeah, right. And the sun will rise in the west.
Okay, enough kvetching on my part. You didn’t come to this blog to hear me grumble. You came here – on a Saturday – to check out the blogroll and find out some great articles by some awesome bloggers, photographers and writers. So let’s do that now.
Okay, just give me a second to figure out this blogging hierarchy platform a second. Yeesh.

Have a great weekend, everybody!
Yup. I can’t suss out the new WP on my backup blog. AT ALL. And since it’s free, I can’t fix it. Now on my main blog, which I pay for, I downloaded Classic Editor, about a year and a half ago and that has alleviated the problem there.

Hmm. Sounds like this ‘upgrade’ is a ploy to frustrate users into ponying up. Unless the classic editor isn’t available that way anymore.

I have been resisting accepting the new block editor on WP too, but yesterday when I hit “new post,” it forced it there. From the WP-ADMIN control panel, there is now an option under “all posts” to go to “classic editor,” but I have yet to figure out how to START there, and once you start with the new nonsense, every time you edit the post in the classic format, you get a pop-up telling you some functionality may be lost. I like WP, but this is a terrible self-own they’re doing here . . . feels like it’s all about presumption that phone/tablet formatting is the most important element, so if you’re still PC based, and have a layout/design that lends itself to large screens, you’re SOL. Yucko.

I should note that I have a paid WP account too at the premium level . . . looks like to add the Classic Editor back in, you have to be at business level. Sigh.
