Matt McKee is an Arkansas state senator. And that’s probably the nicest thing I can say about him.
See, a few days ago, McKee was part of a state senate hearing regarding a state bill that involved gender-affirming care for minors, and whether doctors can be sued for providing gender-affirming medications to children.
Among the witnesses at the judiciary hearing was pharmacist Gwendolyn Herzig.
It is at this point that McKee, in questioning Herzig, asked the following. I’m just going to leave this here. You take a listen.
Your ears do not deceive you. A state senator asked a witness if, by being a trans female, did she still possess a penis.

Senator McKee asked Gwendolyn Herzig first if she was a trans woman, Herzig responded that she was a trans female, yes. But then he asked her about whether she still possessed male genitalia.
I could dismiss this as just being Arkansas, considering that state recently elected a mule as its governor, but I digress.
What we have here is straight-up knuckle-dragging transphobia at its scummy worst. You’re going to ask someone about their private parts to do what? Score points with the Christofascists and the TERFs? Make yourself sound like some sort of moral crusader straight out of the Spanish Inquisition?
Ugh.
Someone should ask Matt McKee if HE has a penis. Because I’m suspecting that his junk probably shriveled up and withered away from lack of use.

This transphobia is another example of people being conditioned to be afraid of something they don’t understand. Ugh!

From both a legal and medical point of view, I’d like to know how the senator’s question is relevant to the subject at hand. I suspect it is just an attempted ad hominem attack on the witness in an effort to deny her credibility.

CHILDREN could be subjected to irreversible, life-altering procedures, and we’re hung up on poor Gwen being offended?
A sensitive subject, but since “junk” does figure into this issue, any related questions should be entertained.
Gwen’s hurt feelings make for good tv drama, but they don’t take precedence here.
