Week 10 of the Graney’s Stout Summer Trivia League
I’ve got three weeks to go and over 120 points to gain. This is what happens when you’re in fifth place in a trivia league and the final prize money goes to the top four squads. With that in mind, I had to change my strategy and change it quickly. Throw all caution to the…

We all know where we were on that horrible Tuesday in 2001. We saw the aftermath of the planes crashing into the tallest structures of the World Trade Center, into the wall of the Pentagon, into a field in western Pennsylvania. We mourn the death of the innocent, we champion the bravery of the flight…

So I’m busy on August 21, 2017…
I have a serious love-hate relationship with the social media site reddit. I’ve met great people on the site, and I’ve met people for whom the words “restraining order” fit them perfectly. And that includes the person calling from “Internal Revenue Service” with their satellite office in Bangalore, telling me I’m being sued for back taxes. He got dumbfounded when I simply repeated all his…

Buster’s showing off his Shofar
The shofar is one of the oldest musical instruments. It’s the horn that Joshua blew to knock down the walls at Jericho. And the most beautiful shofars in the world came from the heads of rams. During my “Sunday at the Altamont Fair” excursion, in which I spend the entire day at Altamont and experience…

Raskolnikov’s Intersection, part 2
You may have heard that I’m trying something new with my Krasnogorsk FT-2 ultrawide camera “Raskolnikov.” I had previously tried to craft a “weave” by crossing two strips of 35mm film into an intersectional photograph. Liked it, but wanted more. So last Sunday I went back to that bendy road near Route 157, just off…

So someone asked me … “Chuck, how do you choose and rank the blogs for each Thursday recap?” Simple. I see which bloggers have sent me cookies or candy or other forms of tribute… Ha. Actually, I read the blogs, and those that catch my interest – whether I share the blogger’s opinion or disagree…
